//farewell, good ole' CBGBs, with an early Holga shot from the archives. and another shot.
...wanted to post a homage to the door-closing of CBGBs, a historical musical landmark. over the last handful of years, i've made the trek to the joint and enjoyed its graffiti walls and pee-smelling booths before last nights shut down. the music that originated at the club for its first 5-10 years shaped my musical tastes today, and which I continue to dig. while driving home last night after a night out at the Horseshoe (Torontos own landmark version of CBGBs) from catching local soul rockers 'the Brown Hornets' and new orleans hard rockers 'Supagroup', i tuned into the live broadcast of Patti Smiths closing show at the NYC club...sweet sh*t. at show end, she yelled out '33 years! The same age as Jesus. Goodnight, everybody.' yowsa, just as long as i've been on this earth.
thanks for the never ending stories of musical mayhem that will be told, and thanks for the tunes.
