//...perhaps my favourite reason to love this wall. i mean, where can you see Zappa art anywhere, really.
*cranky mood/beginning of rant*
A few months back, i decided to susbcribe to satelitte radio, and picked up a Sirius unit. Really, I was getting tired of the Edge102 crap i started to hate, the screamo-punk movement, which has been creeping into my fave station and overwhelming it. Good Charlotte. My Chemical Romance. Panic at the Disco. How about 30 Seconds to just f'n punch myself in the face every time this music starts to feed through my speakers. When the heck did music get completely shyte? Yeah, the pop/rnb/hiphop was always a commercial phenomenon, with manufactured artists and the likes. Really, i knew rock had its commercial twist as well, but c'moooooon....when did CFNY/EDGE102 start sucking sooooo hard. When???
Well, I realized that the appeal of satellite radio was all the genre specific channels, and gave it a shot. Over a hundred and change of channel surfing, same really as surfing the stations of current free radio i can tune into, without the seemingly hours of commercials. Was never a big Stern fan, not big on Opie and Anthony either, so that didn't matter. But sweeeeeeeeet manjula, i can listen to hours on end of radio again, and enjoy almost every song on certain stations. Specifically, original punk, old school hiphop, classic heavy r'n'r, 80s alt rock, garage rock, and Canadian indie rock, with the occasional comedy channel and even a thing or two learned on the Playboy station. I went through a stretch of tunes this afternoon spanning from AC/DC to the Dirtbombs to the Leather Uppers to Nine Inch Nails to A Tribe Called Quest to Tool to the Velvet Underground to Peaches to Chuck Berry, and to absolutely kick my ass with Frank Zappa.
I hate you, free radio...i wanted it all from you. However, i've found my new love in satellite radio. And i ain't ever goin' back. From My Chemical Romance eighteen times a day, to Frank Zappa twice a day. Such an easy decision. *sigh* If only every decision was this easy.
*end of rant*
