A Segue to the Segway. | Oct 13, 2005 | Talk to me (6)
From the Toronto Star today....
Segways cannot be operated legally on Toronto streets or sidewalks, according to city lawyers.

The legal opinion says the two-wheeled, electric-powered machines can travel on roadways in city parks, but not elsewhere in the city.

The lawyers say Segways are 'motor vehicles' under Ontario's Highway Traffic Act, and 'the Segway does not meet Ontario's equipment safety standards for on-road use.' The provincial rules bar Segways from any part of the city road allowance, which includes sidewalks.

Image from the Distillery District, during a Segway tour that cut out in front of me.....I wanted to segue smoothly into the segway, but couldn't think of a good enough segue. Hmm, maybe that segue will suffice.

Having them off sidewalks is a good thing, considering it could get kinda nuts in a few years having these things potentially everywhere. No bikes, no skateboarders, no segways either pls. (although they are super cool).

And, HEY !!!! Is that G.O.B. from Arrested Development somewhere there ???? (i wish).
